Transparency First: Comptroller Prioritizes Openness Among Initial Actions

Kingston, NY (January 21, 2020) – Ulster County Comptroller March Gallagher announces new initiatives to enhance transparency and accountability across County operations. These efforts include the release of Ulster County vendor payments and a tip line for accountability measures.

In the spirit of open government, the Comptroller’s website now hosts an ongoing and up-to-date list of monthly Ulster County vendor payments. This database contains all expenditures to businesses, nonprofits, and government entities paid by the County in 2019.

“The County spends millions of dollars across hundreds of outside vendors every month, and it’s time our taxpayers know exactly where our money is being spent. People can now effortlessly follow where–and to whom –our tax dollars are going,” said Comptroller Gallagher. “I am committed to keeping this data current.Transparency enables ethical issues to be monitored in a timely way and review of vendor data can help to achieve efficiencies.”
