Ulster County Comptroller Appoints Charles Dinstuhl, CPA, as Director of Internal Audit and Control
Kingston, NY (March 21, 2023) – Ulster County Comptroller March Gallagher announces the appointment of a new staff member in the Comptroller’s Office.
Comptroller Gallagher has appointed Charles Dinstuhl as the new Director of Internal Audit and Control. Charles Dinstuhl is a Certified Public Accountant who has more than 8 years of accounting experience. He began his career in public accounting conducting external audits of local municipalities, conducting internal audits of local school districts, and providing tax compliance and consulting services to a wide range of local businesses. Charles has been a resident of Ulster County since 2003 and is an active community member. He has a passion for internal auditing within the public sector and brings public sector municipal audit experience to the office. His professional affiliations include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, New York State Society of CPAs, and is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York. Charles earned his BS in Accounting and a BA in Political Science both at SUNY New Paltz.

The position of Director of Internal Audit and Control, which oversees the audit program of the Comptroller’s Office, remained vacant in 2020 and was not budgeted in 2021 as a result of the pandemic. Prior to the 2023 budget, the position was budgeted at a rate below the staff the position supervises.
