Comptroller Gallagher Pushes Back on Proposed Federal Rule Threatening $50M in Ulster County Grant Funding

The proposed Office of Management and Budget rule would give federal agencies broad new power to terminate grants, add red tape before awards are even approved, and hold counties liable for the “reputation” of every subrecipient organization, all while allowing funds already spent in good faith to be clawed back.

Ulster County has a strong audit record and robust internal controls. Comptroller Gallagher is asking OMB to extend the comment period, add clear definitions, and preserve local governments’ ability to deliver the services our residents rely on.
