$82 Million in the First Six Months of 2017
Kingston, NY (August 17, 2017) – Over 13,000 invoices totaling in excess of $82 million were reviewed by the Office of the Ulster County Comptroller during the first six months of 2017. In addition the Office examined and monitored 444 contracts, year to date amounting to over $32 million.
The greatest private sector vendor was Rose and Kiernan, Inc. at nearly $2.8 million followed by Arthur F. Mulligan Inc. at almost $1.4 million. Leading the non-profit sector was ARC of Ulster-Greene at $1.9 million and Gateway Community Industries at $1.8 million
Well over 50% of the cumulative spending occurred in the first quarter of 2017 with the month of March alone accounting for $28 million of spending.
The ongoing claims auditing and contract review efforts monitor the spending of taxpayer dollars to ensure that payments are free from fraud, waste and improprieties.
