Millions For Mental Health Ulster MHA Educates, Stabilizes and Heals
Kingston, NY (July 11, 2016) – Ulster County Comptroller Elliott Auerbach released the second sequence in the Ulster County Not-for-Profit Snapshot Series, drawing attention to another of the not-for-profit organizations being paid millions of dollars as a contract provider of services to Ulster County. The latest report reviews The Mental Health Association of Ulster County, Inc. (MHA) and highlights the numerous programs offered, the number of clients served, the compensation of key employees and the overall expense to the County as it relates to the MHA annual budget.
In April the Comptroller released the 2016 Not-for-Profit Snapshot Review, an overview of the contractual relationship that the County had with 185 regional not-for-profits. The narrative featured five providers, who during the past three years, have been paid collectively over $21 million. It was followed up in June by the initial sequence of the Ulster County Not-for-Profit Snapshot Series, a spotlight report focusing on one of those providers, Gateway Community Industries, Inc., who topped the list by receiving over $6 million since 2014.
“True to its commitment to providing compassionate services, it is quite evident that the Mental Health Association has helped thousands of people toward achieving their optimal mental health,” said Auerbach. “Our funding, which comprises 23% or more of MHA’s annual budget and amounts to nearly two million dollars a year, is an investment into an array of programs that address mental health education, rehabilitation and therapeutic care for a cross section of our Ulster County residents, regardless of age and income,” the Comptroller stated.
Three other agencies will be featured in the upcoming months with all of the reports being posted on the Comptroller’s website at www.YourEyesOnUlster.com. The MHA report can be found here.
